Altering between Light and Shadow-Recognition about Hue in Oil Painting
Change of light in nature is variable. We can’t catch the tracks of light. On an afternoon of summer, we like to lie in a comfortable chair under the shade of a big tree; while we are enjoying the cool feeling the shade brings us, spots of sunlight spark on the ground. We like shadow when it is too bright; we like light when it is in dark. Alternation between light and shadow in nature is spontaneous; it is surprising that every alternation of light is satisfied to people. Artists are sensitive to this; therefore the light and shade are always focused on their oil painting creation.
Artists are pursuing for the perfect melting of light and shade; they want to convey the most natural alternation between light and shade just as what in nature. Many art masters, such as Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh and etc, paid great attention to light of hue change.Monet is also a marvelous controller of light; he was always observing the change of light day by day. Monet was almost captivated by the nature light; he also brought his experience into his prominent impressionism oil painting for his great oil paintings were usually in a series.
Oil painting is some kind of essence rooted from nature and art. Either artists or art lovers recognize the magic alternation between light and shade in hue.
