Impressionism artwork is the favor of most art lovers from generation to generation. Claude Monet is no doubt the founder of impressionism, and he is virtually synonymous with this artistic movement of impressionism. The name of impressionism is deprived from the oil painting entitled Impression, Sunrise in 1873. Monet’s Haystack series was created between 1890 and 1891. These oil paintings convey the passion of its artist for rendering his daily experience.
The stack in oil painting stands straightly behind Monet’s house in Giverny. The series can be considered as a whole tracks the effects light, both seasonal and changeable in different times on the day. In Haystack at Sunset, Frosty Weather, the haystack occupies the left ground of the picture close to the horizon line. This subtle lifts the painting from being only a naturalistic work to something which is totally more abstract. Another outstanding one of this series can be Haystack in the Morning, Snow Effect. Even has many similarities, this painting has a dark shape of the haystack is covered in the gelid light of a winter afternoon. The winter sun is low with behind coming light.
Of course, the Haystack series has not only the two mentioned above. It is a representative for light rendering in impressionism oil painting. When being fascinated in the beautiful rural scene of France, having an insight on art technique and expression force can elevate the art sake indeed.
